Day 47

December 23, 2005

The second load of logs is scheduled to arrive at 8:00 a.m. on Friday December 23, 2005. As Bill has the day off, he grabs coffee and heads out first thing. Ever watchful for the omni-present deer (a few of which he sees), Bill is startled to see the local herd of elk are grazing in Pat Harvie's field just to the north so as Bill is passing by on the road he stops to observe. It's already above freezing and heading for 10C, so it is a beautiful morning.

The logs are being off-loaded as Bill arrives. Terry shows up and they confer on plans for the next few days. The garage trusses are mostly up. The boys have been putting up what log they can so a couple of walls are starting to take shape.

The elk keep a watchful eye from a distance until they are sure we know what we are doing and by 10:00 a.m. they have wandered off, out of sight.
