Our good friend Garrett has the incredible knack of pointing out that which we often overlook. Take, for instance, the FORD Men's World Curling Championships, held in Edmonton March 31 - April 8. So, while winter continued to hold spring at bay and giant icicles formed with the snow / melt cycles, we prepared for a wonderful spring break. Karen left April 3 for Ottawa and the Canadian Improv Games (CIG) national tournament. And while the weather wasn't co-operating like it usually does this time of year in our nation's capital, she did get to deliver a workshop and judge the competition. She arrived home Sunday with all the elated exhaustion that can be expected from a week of CIG nationals and the personal and professional development that comes along with it. Meanwhile, Bill finished up work on Wednesday, stopped for some wings and diet coke with the usual Wednesday crowd and then headed to Jessica's in Edmonton. Jess had class Thursday morning but attended with afternoon and evening draws with Bill. The capper for Bill ( Canada winning not withstanding) came on Friday night on the Keith's Patch. Back in 1998, the World Curling Tour championship was held in Fort McMurray . Bill had the honour and the pleasure of being the driver for the Mike Harris rink. Mike's foursome included Richard Hart at Third. Rich is now Glen Howard's Third. The Howard brothers were also playing in the WTC championship and during the event Bill also met Glen. Imagine, if you will, Bill's delight when both Rich and Glen remembered him from that long ago event ....... priceless!!!! |
